REWARDING EXCELLENCE

NORTH MEADOW MEDIA designer Barry Lowenhoff and writer Ben Locker recently collaborated on a series of publications for the Diana Award

Diana Award Publications

The Award, which has just celebrated its 10th anniversary, has relaunched itself with the aim of giving recognition to many more young people whose work makes a difference to the lives of others. In particular, the main Diana Award has become more rigorous — with nominations assessed by a quality panel — and there is now a new 'Certificate of Excellence' for young citizens who work together in groups. The Diana Anti-Bullying Award is also being promoted more than ever before.

Bold plans need effective marketing. Barry Lowenhoff was asked to redesign all the main Diana Award materials, including the guidance notes and nomination forms that are sent out to schools, youth groups and thousands of other organisations. Once again, the materials were written by North Meadow's Ben Locker, who ensured that the stories of inspirational young people were at the heart of each publication.

We are proud of our long association with the Diana Award, and are glad that our work helps to give so many wonderful children and young adults the recognition they deserve.

You can see some of our earlier work for the Diana Award on the North Meadow Media website.

COLCHESTER CONNECTED

LONGSTANDING NMM CLIENT Palladian Press has created a splash amongst Colchester's business community by launching a brand new magazine — Colchester Connected.

Colchester Connected Launch

The brainchild of Palladian's Sales & Marketing Director, Steve Green, Colchester Connected uses feature-length articles to throw the spotlight on local businesses, and to draw out engaging and commercially-enlightening ideas about their work.

The magazine, which was edited by North Meadow Media's Ben Locker (above, bottom right), was launched on Friday 23rd January by TV Magician Michael J. Fitch (above, bottom left) at the Weston Homes Community Stadium - the impressive new home of Colchester United F.C.

Ben was also responsible for writing the paid-for features in the magazine, and the response to them has been excellent. Testimonials will appear on the Colchester Connected website in due course.

Over 350 people attended the magazine launch, including local MPs Bernard Jenkin and Bob Russell, as well as representatives from the Essex Chambers of Commerce, Colchester Borough Council and many others connected with the local business community. The guest list also included North Meadow Media's own Barry Lowenhoff, seen below with Stone Productions' Leigh Hemmings as they were wowed by the magic of Michael J. Fitch.

Designed by Barry Lowenhoff, the calendar features a giant Palladian 'P' logo photographed in various location in East Anglia. The shots were taken by Harland Payne Photography during November and December, and a short introduction was provided by NMMs Ben Locker.

PEOPLE IN THE NORTH MEADOW

THE NORTH MEADOW INTERVIEW is rapidly becoming a favourite with people who enjoy learning more about our guests. Since we launched the new NMM site last November, we've featured poet Katy Evans-Bush, Shedworking publisher Alex Johnson and the man once dubbed 'the most powerful man in publishing', former Waterstone's Head Buyer and present Friday Project publisher Scott Pack. In coming weeks, artist Richard Ardagh and letterpress printer Graham Bignell will be talking to Ben Locker at their Hoxton studio.

AND DON'T FORGET OUR BLOG, which we update several times weekly. We love our work, but this is the place where we talk about all the other things that catch our fancy.
